French voters face legislative elections

Hung parliament as Macron's party falls short

PARIS, France - France is voting in the second round of its most crucial legislative elections in recent years with the latest polls suggesting a hung parliament.

President Emmanuel Macron's centrist Ensemble alliance is currently the largest party in the National Assembly with 88 seats, but polls suggest it could lose its majority after this election.

The left-wing NUPES alliance, led by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, is projected to make significant gains, potentially becoming the largest party in parliament.

A hung parliament would make it difficult for Macron to pass legislation and could lead to political instability in France.

The outcome of the election will also have implications for France's role in the European Union and its response to the war in Ukraine.
